The rise of the Chief AI Officer
and other AI leadership roles

Artificial intelligence (AI) has its roots in the mid-20th century, emerging from the intersection of computer science, mathematics, and philosophy.

Progress has recently been accelerated through more client friendly interfaces allowing easy access to LLM’s and a drive towards generative AI.

We have seen with this a significant rise in the number of AI related roles, specifically at the most senior level the CAIO.

At Bergman holt we have been fortunate to be at the centre of this rise, with our close association with UKAI – the trade body for AI businesses in the UK and supporting PE backed businesses with these senior AI leadership roles.

Understanding what you need
and why

There are many flavours of the AI leader within UK businesses (or those who have adopted this role) and knowing what you need is key.

We use an AI Maturity Framework to help understand the AI Maturity of your organisation, this helps to drive the conversation on:

→ Responsibilities of the role
→ Seniority
→ Measures for the role, and
→ How the organisation brings on such a role

If you are thinking about the role, but don’t know where to start or just want to confirm your thinking, then get in touch and we will help you on that journey.
